When a Recipe Goes Terribly Wrong!

Cinnamon Meat?

My boyfriend Bob is an amaaaaazing cook. He is not a professional but for an amateur chef I think his food tastes better than almost any restaurant. He just seems to know how to make things taste good. He has a natural knack for knowing how to spice things perfectly.

He specializes in spicy stuff which makes his mother and sister gag, but it’s never too hot for me!

He makes some of the best tasting taco meat ever, I must admit. I’m not sure why it’s so good but it could be his oh so secret blend of just the right amount and kinds of spices.

He’s not humble about it either.

He’ll say, “This taco meat would win HANDS DOWN if it was in a taco meat contest. It’s better than any Mexican restaurant!!”

I appease him with, “YES. It really is far better than anywhere we’ve eaten!” (It’s good to appeal to a man’s macho ego sometimes.)

The other day he eagerly began his Taco Meat Making Process. He lined up all the ingredients for the chilli on the kitchen island.

Beef. Check.

Onions. Check.

Cans of diced red tomatoes. Check.

Then he lined up all his spices:

Garlic.
Onion Powder.
Salt.
Paprika.
Chilli powder
and Cayenne.

He was happily throwing it all in the pan with a look of childlike excitement.

A shake of this.
A shake of that.

He was in his groooove!

After a few hours we started smelling the aroma of this spicy concoction wafting into our noses. I started salivating.

He put his nose in the air as if to say… “Soon, very soon we can partake of this masterpiece!”

A little while later it started smelling weirdly like — cinnamon rolls.
