Songs for the Common Good. You in?

Turning on friends to new musicians is one of the most fun things I do. I’ve dragged folks to concerts in every place I’ve gone — before Covid.

The Covid-crisis has been devastating for musicians I know and follow. The shift to streaming has meant that artists earn the majority of their income by touring. Gigs are where they find new fans. That’s all gone for 2020 and perhaps into 2021.

I’m starting to hold “Songs for the Common Good” Zoom House Concerts to help with their lost revenue but also to introduce new fans to fantastic artists who write songs about our common history, songs that help us break down barriers and songs that lift up public values.

The Zoom shows I’ve been to have been great fun — for fans and artists. We can see each other like in a real gig and we can ask questions.

Also, if you want to do more, join me in supporting campaigns to update copyright laws and balance the power of the “disrupting” tech industry.
