Learning always involves some degree of generalization, and adding the right kind of variation can help you do that better

We are learning more about how learning takes place in our brains. Some of that is new and emerging technologies are trying to ‘hack’ our brains into improved learning modes.

Yet, some older insights deserve rekindling, especially in the age where some people are trying to build thinking and learning machines/software.

One of the things most current AI systems are not all that proficient at is generalization. A few recent ones seem to do better, but let’s see how they fare before making big claims.
