My meaningful place

My meaningful place is the place where I grew up. It is a small close-knit village located in the extreme northwest of Russia on the adorable Snuppi-shaped Kola Peninsula.

The beauty of this place is in its nature. In the summer, you can experience polar days, in the winter — polar nights, and just somewhere in the middle — breathtaking auroras. It is surrounded by the beautiful forest where my family and I used to collect mushrooms and berries together every summer. I still remember the flavor of the cloudberries just picked up from one of the bogs of the forest and sleepless nights peeling and cooking mushrooms together.

I do not know why but I still keep visiting this place in my dreams. Sometimes it feels like all of the actions that are happening in my dreams are happening there. On its streets, in its forest, on its river.

One of the fondest memories about this place is building small huts with my childhood friends inside the forest from branches and sticks.

It smells like wood, a campfire, rain, and fresh grass.

It is the place that I always want to come back to come back to my childhood even if for a while.
