Change

How many times have you felt you wanted to quit everything & change your life. May be I should have done this. May be I should have done that. I feel this way almost always nowadays. And then my phone beeps. Green icon & then I’m lost. Like literally.

The next time I come back to myself, a re-start happens and the infinite loop continues just that it not the same person, its not the same group that triggers the beep. If you are a person who can’t say no to people, then I’m so glad that you are here, for you are one step closer to making a change for yourself. Some of us here know about incremental change in calculus and how it has grown to have a powerful effect in AI and machine learning. What if I tell you if you make a such a small & easy change, you can have multitude positive effects in your life? Isn’t it beautiful, easy and magical? Good news is I have tried and it does have a profound effect. It wouldn’t be wrong if I say that one small change makes me take time to write this peice. Bad news is its extremely easy to make a small negative change and get trapped.

Let me tell you the small significant change that I made which helped me increase my control over my life. Thanks to luck, it wasn’t even a behavior change that I had to consciously do everytime. So, I had my phone’s whatsapp shortcut right on top of my home screen and had all the notifications ON so that I dont miss out on urgent messages. FYI I did not consciously chose to do either of the two. But, I was so oblivious & it has taken over my time & space with my consent read again not without my consent. I reverted these two, removed my whatsapp shortcuut and switched off the notifications.

There. The word is freedom. Now, I choose to see what I want to see. Sadly, it took a while for me to get accustomed. But, it is worth it for I have my time back. What do I do with it & how to do? I’ll try & write more on how & what to do with the regained gift.

When I told this to one of my friends, for the enginner he is, he was quick enough to relate it to interrupt & pull signals from control systems. So, why am I telling this here?Just so that we learn to enjoy small moments, sometimes its all in us, we just don’t realise it & see it the right way we should.

If the removal of a shortcut icon in phone can create a bull whip effect in one’s life, think about the number of easy quick changes that we can do to make life better. Here are some of the things that I can think of. Post your idea in comments.

I’m not trying to say you can change everything and be positive and create wonders. These trials cost nothing and your ROI wouldn’t go negative. Try.
