LISK Highlights from 3rd to 7th Dec 2018.

Hello everybody. The LISK project and it’s enthusiasts are always busy, and this week past has certainly been no exception.

Seeing is believing, so here is a recap of the highlights and interesting items from the past week on the LISK subreddit and beyond…..

LISK Elite delegate group continue their publications with another monthly summary of their activities and contributions for the month of November. Highlights include….. the sponsoring of the China Lisk Blockchain Meetup held by Tim Yau, the Brand Ambassador of China, in Shanghai, the interaction with “the first Blockchain” Website, a Blockchain Media Platform in China, to launch the price guess of virtual currency, which took LSK as the bonus and the benchmark currency. A list of Elites donations to Lisk projects and community members is also included within.

One really interesting point to note was that Aslan and Leah of Elite group exchanged views with Fu Jing, the investment manager of Hainan Eco-Software Park. This related to Hainan’s policies on blockchain and the introduction of Hainan Eco-Software Park, thus making preparations for Lisk attracting more high-quality projects. I am intrigued to see what comes from this.

The new historical data uploader tool will help lay down historical info through transactions onto the chain, so that LML and GNY’s machine learning can read the info to run its algorithms on. Historical data for analysis will reduces the timeline required to getting a working product, so this move by the team is to be applauded.

Yesterday Lisk HQ announced they have moved the Lisk Foundation’s Bitcoin reserves to a new multi-signature wallet. This is to ensure a secure retrieval of forked Bitcoins. They revealed that the wallet address is: 3MCh3xEt733gu4pCMKSHupSJG9raBADMtS

I commend HQ for this sort of clarity and security.

Lisk Central America are really going for it in their promotion of blockchain tech in their corner of the world. In the past month they gave a presentation on “Blockchain 101” to Central Americas next big startups with special guest Founder Institute Costa Rica”. This guest group Founder Institute Costa Rica described themselves as “The world’s premier pre-seed accelerator & startup launch program for entrepreneurs” and I am sure what they had to say was of great interest to those in Costa Rica that may be intending to build a sidechain project on Lisk and who require an economic boost to get started.

Another follow-on event was held at a local technology university called Cenfotec. Here the audience was eager students, so Lisk Central America presented a more technical explanation of how exactly Blockchain technology works. They also explained how the Lisk platform works and how it will allow developers to easily create decentralized applications.

Their most recent meetup on November 29th was the official Lisk ambassador meetup in downtown San Jose. This event was jam-packed with the local Blockchain community of Costa Rica, showing their support for Lisk Central America’s mission of Blockchain awareness and accessibility. And by all accounts this turned out to be a good meetup judging by the images in Lisk Central America’s most recent blog post. Check it out and give LCA a clap up for all their good work.

Further tweaks and manipulations were required such as where in the documentation it says that you need postgresql-10 but this isn’t available for the raspberry pi, so zOwn3Ds had to use postgresql-9.6. A current stumbling block is with the syncing of the node when a snapshot is used, as at certain times zOwn3Ds lost ssh connection with his Rasbperry pi. When you don’t sync the node with a snapshot the blocks will sync a lot faster, so this is something to be ironed out in time.

Last week saw the announcement of Lisk center Utrecht, a multipurpose base located in JIM/Beatixgebouw. Community driven and supported by Lisk HQ, this Lisk center will act as a shared working space for those building within the Lisk ecosystem. Over 200 square metres of office space with around 60 places available…. and all 100% free to users. This center is set to open its doors in Q1 2019.

One thing I felt was lost a bit in the excitement was all the donators that put their funds towards making this all happen. Great to see this initiative, and all these good folk helping out. Check out the list of donators in the above image and keep in mind their good work for the community the next time you move to change your votes for who should forge as part of the 101. Good deeds should be rewarded. 👍

They rounded out their article by saying….. “The cryptocurrency market keeps evolving and the altcoins that are on top today might not see through the end of the year. Additionally, although 2018 has been full of surprises, it is essential to prepare yourself and focus more on investing with brands that you are comfortable with.”
